Leveraging ChatGPT in the Access to Justice Crisis

In this CLE, participants will examine the transformative potential of generative AI (gAI) to improve access to legal services. What are the benefits and limitations of gAI in the context of legal aid? How can we ensure that its use aligns with the core values of providing fair and equitable legal assistance? This session will demonstrate the potential uses of gAI for legal professionals while tackling the crucial ethical considerations that come with integrating generative AI into legal practice.

Presenter:

Tammy Pettinato Oltz currently teaches Law Practice Technology and Lawyering Skills at the University of North Dakota School of Law. Previously, she served UND Law for seven years as Assistant Dean for Law Library and Information Services, where she spearheaded the law school's legal technology education efforts, developed programming related to implicit bias in the legal profession, and created a grant-funded legal self-help collection, among other accomplishments. She holds a JD from Harvard Law School and an MSI from the University of Michigan.
