Details: Over two thirds of eviction cases are for nonpayment of rent. An expungement erases a court record, but tenant screening reports also include information from credit reports. This means many renters with expunged records are still denied housing because of tenant debt listed on their tenant screening report. This session will provide housing practitioners with a basic overview of credit reports, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and practice pointers for achieving the greatest impact for your client in nonpayment of rent cases.
