Justice North Litigation Training: Early-Stage Motion Practice in Family Law Cases

Details: Motion practice in the early stages of family law cases can greatly impact the trajectory of litigation and the ultimate result of a case.  This program will address initiating and responding to early-stage motion practice in family law cases, specifically discussing substantive content and strategy considerations for ex parte, emergency, priority, and temporary motions. 

Presenters: Elizabeth Polling is the Supervising Attorney in the Brainerd, Pine City, and remote offices of Justice North.  Since 2021, she has practiced family law primarily in the 9th Judicial District.  Prior to joining Justice North, she served as an Assistant Public Defender and was in private practice in Cloquet, Minnesota. 

Jim Vollstaedt is a Supervising Attorney at Justice North, joining the organization in 2018, and is focused on casework and supervising the legal staff in Justice North’s Virginia and Grand Rapids offices. Jim worked with MMLA and LASNEM in law school and worked in private practice in Hibbing and Virginia, Minnesota for six years prior to joining Justice North.  Jim is a general practitioner with an emphasis in family law in the 6th and 9th Judicial Districts.
